~ Phamtoms echo in the old downtown of the Far East ~
This is the second album of Shin-ya Ohno's magic realism music solo project KiMiMi.
This album, released only six months after the release of the first album, is a Butoh performance held in November 2022 at a former factory "Houjo factory Tonari" in Sumida-ku, Tokyo, and the music written for the video work "Whisper of black Ink of Hokusai Manga, Echoes of the City" that was released in parallel with the performance. The soundtrack for the Hokusai Manga Butoh performance.

★ About " HOKUSAI MANGA BUTOH "
The Butoh performance standing from the view point of Hokusai.
He watched people, nature, and even spirits carefully, then changed the lifestyle into arts. When we created this work, we researched the Sumida area which is an old city in Tokyo.
I directed this work to involve not only visible things but also invisible things and the atmosphere like residents’ kindness, the professional souls of craftsmen, and a long history of the Sumida-river.
Mostly we don’t pay attention to these daily tiny things, and it disappears before we knew it was precious.
Time changes so quickly. We’re struggling to catch up.
Always running, it is our city life. Sometimes, we need to stop and feel winds blowing from the past.
I hope this non-verbal communication touches your heart and lets you remind yourself of something important.
Emiko Agatsuma (dancer / produced these performance & film )
★ About this album
The music is based on the area around Kyojima in Sumida-ward, Tokyo, where old row houses and local factories from the Taisho and early Showa periods coexist, having survived the air raids during World War II.
The area still retains its old-fashioned atmosphere, and we feel as if we have jumped back in time.
For this project, I visited three factories in Sumida-ward, which also appear in the film, and recorded the sounds of machinery, craftsmen working, and their talking. And I used only these sounds to create the music for the "factory" scene.
For the other scenes, I used the sounds of the crowded streets of Sumida-ward, Tomoshi Shioya's voice, and the voices of the students of the butoh workshop.
I created music for each scene of the butoh performance & film "HOKUSAI MANGA BUTOH" by combining various instruments and noises, such as gaida (Bulgarian bagpipes), kim (Thai harp), accordion, and whistles.
